The choice of paper to be used to fill the loss is done accordingly with its thickness (weight) and texture, to be as close as possible to the original print aspect. It is then tinted with watercolour to match the print’s colour. For this print it was decided, with the print’s owner, to recreate the white margin and grey image zone.
Once the infill paper is tinted, it is placed under the print in the loss area, to mark its shape with a metal spatula.
