Managing Mould in Collections

Mould is a frequent hazard in collection spaces, presenting a risk to both material heritage, and the staff caring for these spaces and items. This workshop aims to help prepare cultural heritage professionals for managing mould in collection spaces and will focus on mould outbreak due to high relative humidity (RH) rather than due to flooding and other wet events. This workshop will cover the following subjects: what is mould, how to identify mould and the cause of high RH, how to respond to a large mould outbreak, and how to remediate mould contaminated collection spaces and items.
